When pig fat was injected into the stomach, mitochondria in the supranuclear part of the epithelial cells in the small intestine showed abnormality in their arrangement and became enlarged in size which later became granular. These granula soon changed into lipid drops. As the size and number of fat drops increased the number of mitochondria decreased. But when streptomycin, an enzyme-inhibiter was injected the metamorphosis of mitochondria became poor and hardly any lipid appeared. This means that streptomycin inhibits the metamorphosis of mitochondria and is presumed to be the reason why the composition of fat was stopped.
