1. In the process of a screening experiment searching for an acid-stable dextrinogenic amylase, about five hundred microorganisms were isolated from the air and soil. As the result of the screening two strains of molds, which were enzymatically as well as morpho-logically quite the same, were found eligible.
2. They had an apparent similarity with Paecilomyces varioti strains, but further my-cological studies on the two groups disclosed several differences between them, e.g., in the shape and arrangement of sterigmata and in the shape of conidiospores.
3. The authors have come to the conclusion that the strains in question must belong to a new species in the genus Paecilomyces and designated them as Paecilomyces subglobosus sp, nov. TPR-3810 and -3811, respectively, after the characteristic shape of the conidiospore.
