International experience activities were implemented in 5th and 8th grade English classes in a compulsory school. In both grades, the international experience activities were integrated as the final activity of the learning unit. The activities are closely linked to the school’s inquiry-based learning curriculum. The results of the post-instruction survey showed that both 5th and 8th graders’ awareness of “international orientation”, “motivation to learn English”, and “generic skills (ability to communicate)” increased. This suggests that foreign language instruction that includes international experience activities can help connect learning in elementary and junior high school foreign language classes, as well as foreign language learning and inquiry-based learning.
