Abstract

Condensation of 2-hexacosyl-3-acetoxytriacontanoic acid chloride and ethyl benzyl tetracosylmalonate gave ethyl 2-tetracosyl-3-oxo-4-hexacosyl-5-acetoxydotriacontanoate whose reduction with sodium borohydride finally afforded the objective 2-tetracosyl-3, 5-dihydroxy-4-hexacosyldotriacontanoic acid, C₈₂H₁₆₄O₄.
