This study evaluates the carbon sequestration capacity of green open spaces along Ibrahim Adjie Street in Bandung City, a high-traffic corridor with substantial transportation-related emissions since there are no previous studies focusing on greenhouse gas emission in the area of the study. Based on the data collected during the survey in July 2024, emission estimation methods based on the IPCC 2006 Tier 2 approach and carbon absorption calculations for urban vegetation was conducted to quantify the annual CO2 emissions and the absorption potential of roadside greenery. The results indicate that transportation emissions in the study area total 22,704.2 tons per year, while green open spaces absorb only 319.41 tons annually, leaving 98.5% of emissions unabsorbed. These findings underscore the inadequacy of current urban greening efforts and highlight the need for policy-driven expansion of green corridors to enhance carbon sequestration. The study contributes to urban sustainability research by providing empirical evidence on the effectiveness of green infrastructure in emission reduction and suggests further investigation into the integration of additional green solutions such as rooftop and vertical vegetation.
