Abstract
Today, it is believed that the role of design is to maintain a balance between the theoretical part and the part based on one's own sensitivity in order to discover problems, and this role is required in many projects. However, it is not easy to properly handle the sensibility element in a project. Using a case study of PBL conducted in one of the laboratories of the Department of Design Science at Chiba Institute of Technology, we will conduct an interview survey to understand the actual conditions of the experience and learning gained by the client and design students. Through the analysis, we will discuss the meaning of PBL, the role and involvement of students, and the treatment of sensory elements in the project. Through this paper, we aim to clarify the objectives of PBL projects, the effects on the learners' learning, and the relationship between these and sensory elements, and the issues involved.
