In a 2006 study conducted by Vicnet, the Victorian government identified relevant training and skills for translators; one of the recommendations being that Victorian translators required support to improve their technical knowledge and capacity to provide appropriate translations for online use. In response, Vicnet and Monash University collaborated to create a Technology and Translation subject, which would be offered as a Masters course at Monash. This paper explains how the subject was developed, the problems encountered, and future improvements to be made.
