For the AC loss reduction in the REBCO superconducting tapes, we have proposed a new method for separating the superconducting layer by using metal-stripes formed before the deposition of REBCO thin films. In this study, we fabricated a microbridge across a metal-stripe and evaluated the critical current to confirm the electrical separation. As a result, a superconducting transition was observed in the microbridge and the critical current was lower than that of a microbridge without the it. This suggests that low-tilt grain boundaries and/or low critical temperature phases are formed.
