This paper aims to describe capability of one-steel-cylindrical-rod contactor for measuring hand value of fabrics like KES standard contactor. As hand value, Shari Hand Value for women's outerwear fabrics is considered and two kinds of the contactor having 0.05 cm diameter with 0.5 cm length and 0.03 cm diameter with 1.0 cm length are used.
The results are obtained as follows :
On calculating single correlation or multiple correlation of Shari Hand Value for MIU (mean frictional coefficient) and MMD (variation of frictional coefficient) of the fabrics measured by the contactors, 0.05 cm diameter's contactor has correlation of 0.715 (max), 0.03 cm diameter's contactor has 0.766 (max) and KES standard contactor has 0.741 (max) in this experiments.
Because one-steel-cylindrical-rod contactor with 0.03 cm diameter has the same performance as KES standard contactor or much better than the one, it is considered that the contactor is applicable as instrument for measuring hand value of fabrics.
