Studies on Thin-layer Chromatography of Inorganic Compounds. X : Thin-layer Chromatography of Metal Dithizonates.

Abstract

Thin layer chromatogaphy for the separation and identification of nine inorganic cations was investigated. From mixed solution of metal ions, dithizonates of Pd²⁺, Hg²⁺, and Cu²⁺ were first extracted with 0.1% chloroform solution of dithizone at pH 0∼1 (N-HCl solution) and then dithizonates of Bi³⁺, Cd²⁺, Co²⁺, Ni²⁺, Zn²⁺ and Pb²⁺ at pH 7∼8. These dithizonates were separated on MN-silica gel S-HR layer by using carbon tetrachloride : methylenechloride : benzene (1 : 7 : 4) as developer. It was possible to identify each dithizonate by characteristic color without detecting reagent.
