The most complaints of the out-patients at the ambulant dental and oral clinicsa re related to pain. Above all, more than 80-90% of the complaints are dental pain. The rest of the complaints are pain induced by inflammations, infections and tumors in the oral and maxillofacial area, and uncertain pain with unclear organic causes. Behavior therapy has become more popular in the clinics of various medical fields recently, and the reported cases are mostly concerning with special cases, and studies on the behavior therapy applied on ordinal cases are little known. The same is true for the treatment of pain except the case of psychosomatic diseases, or neurosis, with very limited symptoms. The author thinks that the behavior therapy should be applied on wider area of clnical cases, and the behavior therapy must be applied in practically routine clinical cases. "Pain" is still a black box, although many studies have been devoted to clarify the cause and etiology. Behavior therapy has been applied for the treatment of pain, and the author also has devoted to do so. Quantitative evaluation of pain is impossible, and the pain is only evaluated by the subjective expression of "pain". The difficulty of the evaluation of the therapeutic effect lies here. The author will present application reports on the removal of the symptom, pain, mitigation and control of pain in the daily clinical practice.
