The purpose of this study is to again a deeper understanding of how a multilingual home environment influences children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) by focusing on one child's language development and the role of the primary caregiver's use of language. In this study, the language development of the child with ASD was within normal range; rather than being confused, the child benefited from the enriched trilingual environment provided by the primary caregiver through code-switch and code-mix. In addition, healthy family interaction and communication were maintained by preserving the trilingual home environment. These findings suggest the necessity of considering the possibility of raising a child with ASD in a multilingual home environment before giving any advice concerning language choice, so as to not jeopardize the child's language development and the natural family communication.
