In recent years, 45% of plant factories have been in a deficit balance. Therefore, we focused on the amount of CO2 to improve the yield of plant factories with solar light. Plants spend CO2 through photosynthesis to produce nutrients for growth. Previous studies have shown that by measuring CO2 near plants, growth conditions and photosynthetic rates can be estimated. This study proposed a CO2 measurement system that can lift up and lift down in the height direction using a rack and pinion mechanism that converts rotational motion into linear motion. As an example of the application of the proposed system, experiments were conducted in an artificially lit tomato cultivation facility, and data analysis was conducted. It was possible to measure the difference between the upper and lower layers of the plant, and to determine the CO2 conductance and diffusion flux of CO2 among them. This paper describes the new CO2 measurement system, the experiment, the results, and the analysis.
