In six-year pharmacy education programs, there is a great deal of emphasis on the appropriate training of medical staff; therefore knowledge, skills, and attitudes need to be imparted in a well-balanced manner without being biased toward knowledge. In medical education, “Yanegawara-style education” has been adopted as a method of imparting skills and attitudes suitable to the role of medical staff. This study applied “Yanegawara-style education” in 2017 to first- and fifth-year students at Tokyo University of Pharmacy and Life Sciences. The results were evaluated using a questionnaire to which approximately 80% of first-year students and 60% of fifth-year students responded. The implementation of education according to the needs of students, appropriate communication of purpose and meaning to teaching side students, and application of spiral medical education in pharmacy education are some issue that require consideration.
