Our hospital has established a pharmacy residency program and produced more than 60 graduates. The training curriculum consists of lectures on job training and seminars. In addition to central pharmacy tasks, such as dispensing and drug information providing, practical training provides intensive education on clinical pharmacy practice in wards and ambulatory pharmacy. In the early stages of training, we carry out shadowing under the guidance of a preceptor pharmacist. After that, the resident and the preceptor change their positions, and the preceptor provides support during the resident’s round and gives feedback after the round. Throughout this period, they can attend to patients independently after a few months of entry. Residents organize seminars to acquire skills in order to have intensive discussions in a short duration and help demonstrate pharmaceutical expertise in clinical conferences that are attended by several professionals. In the future, we will enhance the program and continue to train pharmacists who can demonstrate higher clinical performance.
