For a tapered roller bearing, axial preload should be required to support radial load since the inner and outer rings can be separated. Though the authors had studied a change of axial load of tapered roller bearing in position preload, it was observed that the axial load decreased rapidly in the immediate aftermath of first rotation of the bearing with applying a certain axial load. The cause will be concerned with the skew of tapered roller in the bearing structure. However, it is not rigorously determined yet. Therefore in this research, the outer ring was made by a clear material and the skew of tapered roller was measured in exact detail using a high-speed camera. Then, it was confirmed that the tapered rollers, whose initial skews were random at affixing of bearing, began to revolute with keeping similar angle of inclination in several rotations just after the start of rotation. Furthermore, it was clarified that a decrease of assembled width caused by the change of tapered roller skew influenced the preload decrease.
