In order to investigate the grinding action of the pored type diamond wheel with vitrified bond, the proposed theory of the tangential force on the constant-load grinding was verified from the grinding tests of ZrO2-Y2O3. The following conclusions were obtained from the detailed examinations of the mutual differences between the calculated values and the tested values.The coefficients of friction among the workpieces and diamond, filler and bond influence the calculated values of the tangentialforces.The tested values near the theoretical values calculated with the coefficients of friction obtained under the dry conditions of friction, The estimated relations that the tangential forces are proportional to the Itel25th power of the pressed load of workpieces were verified by the tests.But, the theoretical relationships between the shape of abrasive grit and the tangential force were not clarified.It is indicated from the theory and the tests that the commercial wheel should contain the grits with little friction as fillers.
