Heritabilities of amount of white feathered area in several spotted plumage types of quail were estimated from the parents-offspring correlation and from the components of variance due to differences between progeny groups.
No significant difference in amount of white-feathered area was observed between both sexes in each spotted plumage type. Maternal effects were also not detected. Heritabilities calculated from the three methods were ranged from 0.14 to 0.49 indicating that this trait was rather easily influenced by the environmental conditions.
