TALLIS gave a general solution to the problem of sampling variance of the genetic correlation estimate calculated from the sire components of variance and covariance obtained by analysis of variance and covariance with one-way classification, i.e. "between sires" and "within sires." His method of developing the formula for the sampling variance can be extended rather easily to the case of the estimates of genetic correlation using the sire components, the dam components, and also both the sire and dam components to be obtained from analysis of variance and covariance based on nested classification with "between sires", "between dams within sires" and "within sires and dams" as sources of variation.
In the present note are given formulae for estimated sampling variances of such genetic correlation estimates, derived by extention of TALLIS' method.
