Arsenic can naturally be found in air, water, and soil in several places of the world as a metalloid and as chemical compounds and it is serious problem for the environment, humans and other living organisms due to its high toxicity. There are many detection methods for the arsenic contamination such as cathodic stripping voltammetry (CSV), atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS), inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and spectrophotometry. But, some developing countries face some challenges to determine the pollution of arsenic in water and soil because it generally requires laboratory equipped instruments, complex technical procedures, skilled personnel and employing most of these technologies due to their high cost. Nowadays, various types of field test kits have become commercially available for arsenic analysis. In the present work, we presented for the analysis of arsenic by using a test kit and smartphone-based optical sensing. Concentrations of arsenic (As) in all samples were also analyzed by ICP-MS. The results of arsenic (As) in prepared standard solution are 0.005 mg/l to 0.101 mg/l and, artificial contaminated soil are 0.367 mg/kg to 1.867 mg/kg. The concentrations of collected samples were 0.060 mg/kg to 1.360 mg/kg. The results of reading samples using the test kit and analyze by smartphone in prepared standard solutions are 0.004 mg/l to 0.098 mg/l, artificial soil samples are 0.328 mg/kg to 2.190 mg/kg and collected samples were 0.051 mg/kg to 0.988 mg/kg. There was a very good relationship between test kit result and ICP-MS result.
