Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11th, 2011 destroyed Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant and generated a huge amount of wastes contained radioactive cesium to the environment of Fukushima Prefecture and adjacent prefectures. The purpose of this study is to find out the proper sealing material for the sealing layer of coastal disposal facilities. Previous research shows that the target of hydraulic conductivity of sealing material should be less than 5.0×10-10 m/s to avoid radioactive contaminant leakage to environment with harmfulness. This study focus on Matsushima Bay Clay mixed with bentonite and zeolite and tests the adsorption properties for cesium with consolidation-permeability test. The performance of cesium adsorption of Matsushima Bay Clay mixture can be measured.
