The CMC(Ceramics Matrix Composite) rotating disk, which had SiC matrix reinforced with SiC fiber, was fabricated and demonstrated in a rotating burst test. The burst speed of the CMC disk was 35403rpm. Then, in order to find out the fracture mechanism, tensile tests of specimens cut out from the newly-made CMC disk in various direction, have been conducted in conjunction with stress analysis. Comparison of the test data and the analytical estimation gave the answer that circumferential stresses on the bore reached the tensile strength and then cracks initiated and grew in the radial direction, thus resulted the burst.
