Two- and three-dimensional numerical simulations of double diffusive convection were performed to investigate the mechanism of the crystal growth from sodium chlorate aqueous solution and to discuss the effect of gravity on the crystal growth. Transient double diffusion fields were calculated by a numerical simulation code with varying the gravitational conditions. Experiments have also been carried out to validate the simulation results employing a real-time phase-shifting interferometer. Results of numerical simulation were compared with those by experiments. The transient convection plumes at the corner of the seed crystal were simulated, and time variations of the plumes were precisely observed.
