Japan is a natural disasters prone country. In the Hanshin Awaji great earthquake in 1995, over 6000 people were killed. In the September 11th terrorism in America, rescue robots were used and it has shown that robots can take an important part in rescue activity. In our project, we tested and developed UMRS robots, using carbon dioxide sensor to detect for victims. We have proposed method for searching victims in debris using TGS4161 sensor. TGS4161 sensor has good characteristic with CO2 gas's concentration, but it take quite a long time to be stable with CO2 gas's variation. To improve our system, we develop a new TGS4161 sensor system that can react quicky with the change of CO_2 gas. Experiment has shown that our newly CO2 gas detect system can react 4 times more quickly than the old one. We also carried out demonstration experiment and it has shown that our new sensing system can be used to distinguish for victims effectively.
