Organic compounds produced by photosynthesis of cyanobacteria are mostly consumed for cyanobacterial growth and division. We propose a hypothesis that the suppression of the cyanobacterial growth and division may decrease the consumption of organic compounds and increase the storage. In order to verify this hypothesis, we develop a micro-pillar array to suppress the cyanobacterial growth and division. The micro-pillar allay has micro-scaled confined spaces where cyanobacteria photosynthesize. The cyanobacteria do not grow inside the confined spaces, while they do outside.
