Polymeric actuators are currently increased attentions as an alternative to the actuators of air pressure-type, elastic body, and electromagnetic expression. Until now, We have developed a Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) gel actuator which has excellent characteristics. The realization of a waist support-wear using the PVC gel actuator is expected higher wearability and flexibility compared with the conventional wearable robots. This study therefore describes the design specifications of the waist support wear, the development and characteristic evaluation of the multilayered structure PVC gel actuator, to aim for the burden reduction of lumbar part by the assist from the waist support-wear using the actuator.
