Abstract

In this study, we constructed an acoustofluidic micromanipulation system with an open microfluidic chip. In recent years, microfluidic devices are attracting large attention in the fields of medicine or biology. However, it has practical problems of debris or bubbles trapped in a microchannel because most of conventional microfluidic chips have closed structures. Thus, we propose an open microfluidic chip without bonded cover structure to solve the practical problems of debris or bubbles. We constructed mechanical jigs to hold an open chip, cover glass, gasket, inlet/ outlet tubes and PZT. As a result, we succeeded in applying acoustic wave to the open chip and succeeded in manipulating microparticles by acoustic radiation force. And we evaluated reproducibility of acoustic radiation force by calculate acoustic energy density with recomposed micromanipulation system.
