Using a plaster mold is one way of making pottery. This study devises a process of making pottery for beginners, and assists in understanding the structure of a curved surface. Through this process, learners understand one method of making a regularly curved surface. And they have an opportunity to bring an abstract and geometric idea of structuring a curved surface into relation with materials. In these lessons, learners make some pottery plates with a self-made plaster mold. The surface of this plaster mold is made into locus of curve moving as transforming itself continually. The result has shown that there's a difference in understanding of a curved surface.
