Psychology defines a socially-sensitive person as one who is able to perceive, understand, and respect the feelings and viewpoints of others and behaves accordingly in contexts of social interactions. This research tries to define the parameters of a socially-sensitive notification system for smartphones, capable of acting in regard to ethics and the rules of proper conduct, mitigating the intrusive effect of notifications.
Using Machine Learning, sensor and user data, along with rule-based algorithms to detect contextual cues and assess usage conditions, the system would deliver notifications according to their priority, with the minimum amount of disruption to cognitive tasks, user experience, and social environments.
