Meta-cognition is close to reflective thinking that is aware thinking of its own conceptual and contextual as well as being conscious of the reasons and evidence that support hypothesis or conclusion. The purposes of this study are to understand meta-cognitive ability of Japanese students. Research subjects were 32 undergraduate students second-year of Science Education Department of Shizuoka University which divided into 9 groups randomly. Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is used to determined strategy of students in solve problems. All of groups are 9 groups, but 7 groups whom could solve the problem. The results show that percentages of Japanese High School students are 42.9% in high category. The average time of undergraduate students is 31 minutes, where the fastest time about 7 minutes, and the lowest time about 61 minutes. According MCAI (Meta-Cognition Activity Inventory) questionnaire was showed that students never read all the details of the statement to solving problems. Therefore, meta-cognition ability has affects to time efficiency and the details reading are not important to understand and solve the problems.
