CREATING PROBLEMS -ASKING STUDENTS TO CREATE NEW PROBLEMS- AND ITS ASSESSMENT

Creating Problems ―Asking students to create new problems－increases interest in mathematics, encourages creativity, and helps students appreciate, the usefulness of mathematics. This method has been used and tested in two different settings ― by students in my classroom and students in a mathematical circle. I describe the method used for the creation of these problems and their assessment. Students not only made posters including their problems, but also presented them and assessed each other. Then I will share some examples of my students’ actual work.
