This Study investigated the descriptions related to the "practices" of NGSS(Next generation science standard for the USA) in the Thai lower-secondary science textbook edited by the Institute for the promotion of teaching science and technology (STT) and compared the descriptions with those in five science textbooks in Japan (STJs). STT has the first Unit "How to learn science" which include descriptions of scientific process related to the "practices." Although STJs do not have the unit related to the "practices," they have some descriptions about the scientific process at the beginning or end of the volumes. While the descriptions of the scientific process in STJs are practical and concrete, those in STT are explicit and informed.
