Seasonal occurrence of currant clearwing( Synanthedon tipuliformis) was investigated in Naganuma, Hokkaido in 2016. The number of adult moths observed on a raw stems of 19 currant trees and that of adult males caught in synthetic sex pheromone traps with( E,Z)-2,13-octadecadienyl acetate and( E,Z)- 3,13-octadecadienyl acetate mixed in the proportion of 97 : 3 were recorded every 5 days. Moths were observed from June 20 to July 12. The maximum number of moths (31 moths on 19 plants) was recorded on June 30. Male moths were caught in pheromone traps on May 22, from June 17 to July 17, with a maximum catch of 31 moths recorded between July 1 and 5. These results showed that adult currant clearwing moths occur during mid-June and mid-July. The synthetic sex pheromone traps may be effective in forecasting currant clearwing moth population in Hokkaido. Three males of a congeneric species Synanthedon formicaeformis were also caught in the same pheromone trap in early to mid-August.
