抄録
The ICAN project has developed a design for a high pulse energy laser which also has high average
power and high efficiency. An outline of the design is given, and the potential applications for such a laser
are discussed. The existence of a laser with these combined properties will hugely increase the applications
feasible for petawatt lasers.
