For automotive engineers, an ageless catalyst is a kind of philosopher′s stone. In actual catalysts, however, the catalytic activity deteriorates due to the particle growth of precious metals during vehicle use. We have developed an innovative ″Intelligent Catalyst″ which has the function for self-regeneration of Pd in/out of perovskite, without requiring any auxiliary treatment, in an inherent fluctuation of the exhaust gas from state-of-the-art gasoline engines. In previous paper, we have reported that Pd-perovskite catalyst regenerates itself through the solid solution and segregation of Pd in and out of the perovskite crystal[1]. In this study, structural stability of Pd-perovskite oxides (LaFeCoPdO3, LaMnPdO3 and LaFePdO3) for the intelligent catalyst was investigated. Pd-perovskite oxides of LaFePdO3 showed high structure stability and excellent function for self-regeneration.
