Nano-sized silver phosphate particles (Ag3PO4), which showed high photocatalytic ability for NO decomposition under visible light irradiation, was synthesized by a facile codeposition method. The Ag3PO4 photocatalyst was obtained by the reaction of Ag-oleate complex and Na3PO4 at room temperature. The obtained photocatalyst consisted of small particles around 50 nm in diameter and light absorbance edge at 530 nm. The NO decomposition evaluation of Ag3PO4 nano-particles under both visible light irradiation and ultraviolet is higher than that of the commercial one, AEROXIDE TiO2 P25, and the activity can be further improved by removing the oleate ligant.
