3D printing is going to have a radical, transformational impact across many manufacturing sectors in the near future. And microneedle mediated transdermal drug delivery method also shows great potential to replace the conventional drug delivery method step by step. In a word, microneedle and 3D printing technology both show strong trends to dominate their respectively fields. Here I demonstrate the possibility to combine with 3D printing technology and chemical etching together to come up with a novel method for microneedle fabrication. The fabricated Polylactic acid (PLA) microneedle can be degraded by the esterase, which raises no concern about bio-compatibility issues. It is expected that this new method can increase the throughput of microneedle in future.
