This study reports on the implementation results and future development of “ Scientific Problem Solving ” classes in high schools. In Aichi Prefecture, the program was conducted in 2024 at one high school in two 50-minute sessions, and in 2025 at another high school in seven 50-minute sessions. In the first half, all students worked on the common theme of “ reducing smartphone usage time, ” while in the latter half they engaged in problem-solving activities based on issues they had individually selected. The lessons were taught by homeroom teachers, regardless of their subject specialization, using workbooks and supplementary materials. Surveys at both schools showed that
70–80% of students gave positive responses, confirming the usefulness of scientific problem-solving.Going forward, in collaboration with the Aichi Prefectural Board of Education, the program will be expanded to more schools, while refining teaching materials and methods with a view toward nationwide implementation.
