Abstract

This study was conducted to clarify the characteristics of the Old New Town in the Compact City Strategy and the Actual Condition and Problem of the Nankai Housing estates in Hannan City, an old new town outside the residential induction area. Results show the following major findings. 1) Of the 22 municipalities targeted by the survey, 20 municipalities designated Old New Town as a residential induction area. 2) In Old New Town, which is outside the residential induction area, elderly people also use cars, so it is necessary to maintain local transportation. 3) In the survey area, more than 70% of the residents are willing to settle. However, the possibility of living with relatives is biased by region. In the future, in consideration of the possibility of living together etc., a proposal of a residential area image matched to the regional characteristics in the area is required.
