In Rogues Derrida points out that the contemporary global community is going through some “earthquake” which is not a crisis in the Husserlian sense. The problem dates back to Kant, who argued that the problem of transcendental illusion is the inherent and inevitable syndrome of reason. Husserl in his turn considers the between-the-wars crisis of “European Humanity” as a consequence of unilateral praise of reason embodied in the ideology of enlightenment. Derrida places the Husserlian metaphor of pathology of reason in the context of actual global processes by revealing its assiduous disposition to violence as well as its openness to “democracy to come.”
