The quantitative examination of the absorption dynamics of iron was studied using two kinds of radioiron and the following results were obtained.
1) Absorption and disappearance curves (from blood with 55FeCl3) was theoretically discussed and a formula was obtained concerning the absorption rate.
2) According to the formula, radioiron tolerance test in normal and blood losing anemic rabbits resulted in formation of the first early and the second slow peak and no difference in the absorbed quantity of iron during these two phases was observed between the normal and blood losing anemic rabbits.
3) The absorption curve in human iron deficiency anemia also two plases and the most of iron was absorbed during the first phase.
4) In radioiron tolerance test with patients the absorbed quantitl was proportional to the iron level at the first phase, but it did not related with the time to reach the top of the absorption curve.
5) Radioiron tolerance test for orally administered irons did not coincide with the plasma iron level.
6) The increase of hemoglobin by administration of iron in iron deficiency anemia showed a saturation curve and the initial value obtained by differential calculeus of the curve was evaluated as the increase of hemoglobin at certain times.
7) In the treatment the increase of administered iron doses was followed by an increase of hemoglobin but it had some limit in effect.
In experiments with rabbits, however, the amount of absorbed iron (analysed with the double isotope method) showed marked increase in hemoglobin when its administration dose was elevated.
