It is important to understand child’s eating habit and eating behavior to construct an efficient surroundings of eating where the adequate manner for school lunch and the chewing ability were improved.
In this research, the relation between seven eating behavior index items were examined aiming at the establishment of the objective eating behavior index in shokuiku.
Concretely, the relation between seven eating behavior index items (total meal time, chewing time, chewing strokes, chewing rhythm, free time, milk intake time and milk intake frequency) were analyzed for digitized video taping of the actual situation in elementary school lunch of thirty-two 3rd grade elementary school children (19 boys and 13 girls) who took the school lunch of two-kind menu.
As a result, it was suggested that it would be a first index that had to be selected as a simple screening of the children who had improper eating behavior by ①total mealtime (fast and/or slow eater).
