The roosting ecology of Ussurian tube-nosed bats (Murina ussuriensis) was examined using actual or artificial dead leaves and the banding-recapture method. The observations took place in the Shikoku District, Japan, from 2011 to 2022. The total number of marked individuals was 39 males (121 including recaptures) and 75 females (463 including recaptures). Regarding the recaptured bats, the mean number of recaptures per individual was 3.1 in males and 6.2 in females during the survey period. Furthermore, the travel distance between day-roosts was up to 500 m. The average confirmed years of survival based on the recapture survey was 1.6 years in males and 2.2 years in females. The oldest age was 4.5 years in males and 9.0 years in females. Females aged 7–9 years probably maintained their fertility.
