The stimulative effect of chloramphenicol at a low concentration on the growth of Lactobacillus arabinosus 17-5 or L.fermenti 36 was similar to that of folic acid and PABA. The inhibition of aureomycin on the growth of Streptococcus faecalis R was supposed to have some relation to the riboflavin metabolism.
