When DL-penicillamine was added to basal diet, immediate weight loss occured. The DL-penicillamine administered rats were frequently followed by appearance of running fits and acrodynia-like symptoms. However, the growth inhibition and these symptoms could be reversed by injection of pyridoxine. When D-penicillamine was added to the basal diet, no significant growth inhibition and symoptoms occured. Phosphatidylcholine in liver were more significantly found in microsome fraction of liver of DL-penicillamine treated rats. However, the changes on phospholipid composition could be reversed by injection of pyridoxine.
