The mechanism of the metabolism of inorganic phosphate (Pi) and vitamin D 3 in the body has been clarified by genetic or acquired metabolic bone diseases with abnormality of mineral metabolism. The gene expression of type II sodium-dependent Pi cotransporter family and vitamin D metabolism-related enzymes is mainly regulated by parathyroid hormone and fibroblast growth factor 23. However, it has been considered that the endocrine regulators related to the metabolism of Pi and vitamin D 3 are diverse. In this article, we review that the mutual regulation of the metabolism of Pi, vitamin D 3 and cholesterol by thyroid hormone and dietary Pi.
