Effects of N-cholyl-and N-dehydrocholyl-amino acids on carbon tetrachloride liver injury in rabbits were examined Dehydrocholyl-methionine and its ehthyl ester exhibited a protective effect against this injury. These compounds were protective against fatty infiltration of the liver induced by carbon tetrachloride, ethionamide, and ethanol. The mode of action of these protective agents is discussed.
