Examinations were made on the determination of Sn (IV) by isoamyl alcohol extraction using 3, 4, 5, 6-tetrachloro-3', 4', 5', 6'-tetrahydroxyfluoran and 1, 3-diphenylguanidine. It was thereby found that extractive determination of Sn (IV) is possible in the range of 0-90.0 μg/10 ml of Sn (IV) by measuring the optical density of the Sn (IV) complex formed with the above two reagents, with the reagent blank as the control, at 540 mμ. Presence of Fe (III), Bi (III), Sb (III), Zr (IV), and Al (III) interferes in the extractive determination of Sn (IV) and these ions should be removed beforehand.
