The purpose of this study is to get a basic quantitative painting ability. So we provide Basic Painting Ability Test for primary students. Our point of view are (1) grade development;(2) sex difference;(3) form difference, in the number of painting four forms. Basic Painting Ability Testwas provided 2, 586 primary school students (1st through 6th graders). It contained four forms (circle, triangle, square and tree). Subjects were asked to paint them exactly within 3 minutes. Threeway ANOVA gave three main effects (grade, sex, form) and three interactions (grade by form, grade by sex, form by sex). Painting ability increases on the grade levels linearly. Its performance depends on grade, sex and form. Students
can paint three basic forms (circle, triangle and square) more than one complex form (tree). Female surpasses male from 1st through 4th grade, but later than 5th grade painting ability is equal in number. Multiple regression analysis pictured a linear progression of painting ability. It gave us the estimationof the painting performance for the planning of class lessons.
