The various problems in chronic gastritis were studied by the examination of gastric juice, the gastrocamera amd the' combined gastrocamera and gastric biopsy under fluoroscopy. Four hundred and twentyseven cases including primary chronic gastritis and normal (normal 18, superficial gastritis 124, atrophic gastritis 275 and hypertrophic gastritis 10) were periodically examined dy gastric biopsy for 2 months to 6 years. 1) Most of normal gastric mucosa showed the ten-dency to change into atrophic gastritis by way of superficial gastritis, especially in aged cases. 2) Most of the gastric complaints with normal gastric mucosa tended to disappear, but there was no apparent correlation in the changes of the gastric mucosa and gastric complaints. 3) There was difficulty to see healing of superficial gastritis, which was tended to progressn in atrophic gastritis, especially in aged groups. 4) No apparent aggravation was seen in the gastric complaints of superficial gastritis. Most of the cases slightly improved or at least remained unchanged. 5) There were no remarkable changes in the course of atrophic gastritis especially in advanced cases. Generally speaking, atrophic gastritis showed slow and slight progress.6) There were no correlation in the changes of gastric mucosa and gastric complaints with atrophic gastiris, most of which were remained unchanged. 7) No specialities with age were seen in the course of atrophic gastritis. 8) No remarkable correlation in the findings of gastric mucosa and free HCL could be found in normal gastric mucosa and superficial gastritis. 9) In atrophic gastritis with aggravated cases the depress of free HCL in gastric Juice were found. 10) Hypertrophic gastritis was difficult to be cured. 11) Gastric complaints of hypertrophic gastritis was improved or at least remained unchanged. 12) The appearance of gastric ulcer were found in cases (five cases in superficial gastritis and 6 in atrophic gastritis). 13) In my follow up study, the appearance of gastric cancer has not been found up to the date.
